Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Moldova, the European Commission and the Government of Ukraine on European Union Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine as of 7 October 2005
Frontex Agency:
The European Union Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM) was launched on 1 December 2005 in accordance with a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Moldova, the European Commission and the Government of Ukraine.
In August 2008 the border agency of the Republic of Moldova and Frontex Agency concluded a Working Arrangement which launched official cooperation between the institutions.
Border Police reform comes to support the aspirations of the Republic of Moldova to join the European Union (EU). In this regard, the consistent implementation at national level of the Integrated Border Management is a prerequisite within the negotiations on the RM-EU Association Agreement and the dialogue on Visa Liberalization.
National College of the Border Police is a subdivision of the Border Police whose mission is to provide initial and, where appropriate, continuous training to Border Police staff. Initial training at College consists in 2 years full time study. The overall objective of the College is to conduct training in order to improve BP officers’ skills required to efficiently perform border control and to acquaint students with provisions of relevant legislation and law enforcement.
Logistics and Immovable Property Centre - subdivision of the Border Police Department is a legal entity of public law. The Centre’s mission is to manage receipt, storage and distribution of weapons, ammunition, special equipment, vehicles, medical and veterinary inventory, uniforms and maintenance of buildings and landscaping of the Department’s territory.
