Smuggling with fruit and vegetables

1lfAbout 3.5 tonnes of fruits and vegetables, without any accompanying documents of origin of goods introduced illegally into the country, were retained by the mobile team of the Border Police Department at the entry to locality Giurgiuleşti.

Today , at around 06:00, the inspectors of the mobile team stopped to check four vehicles, three with registration plates from Cahul and one vehicle registered in Bulgaria, driven by Moldovan citizens, residents of villages Colibaşi and Brinza. After a physical control of minibuses, the Border Police officers discovered a lot of boxes with fruit and vegetables, on which the drivers were unable to present any documents.

Currently the Border Police officers investigate the case, to the respective persons were drawn up protocols, further they have to be transmitted, in conformity with competences, to Customs authorities.

If they are found guilty, the respective men could face a fine of 25 to 75 conventional units, according to the Contravention Code of the Republic of Moldova.
We shall remind that additional measures to streamline the traffic and reduce the waiting time at the border crossing on the eve of Easter holidays, the Border Police increases its number of mobile teams involved in state border surveillance and national routes to prevent, counter and stop illegal actions.
