The border policemen acted in preventing and combating illegal fishing in the border area, identifying two Moldovans who were fishing with nets of type monofilament and without authorization. 400 meters from the fishing nets and 12 kg of fish, found by two men were taken to confiscation.
Brînza Border Police Sector Employees discovered this morning, a man of 53 years old, who was fishing with monofilament nets, along the 300 meters. The person, a villager of Slobozia-Mare, Cahul district, did not have authorization to fishing activities and neither announced beforehand the border policemen about his stay in the area. Until his detection, he managed to fish 10 kg of fish of different species. For the breach of the border area regime, the man was fined with 15 conventional units, according to art. 332, paragraph 1, Code of Offences of the Republic of Moldova, and all the quantity of fish and nets were seized and transmitted to Fisheries Service.
Another Moldovan who managed to fish 2 kg of fish with utensils prohibited by law was apprehended by the officers of the Border Police of Cahul district, just 400 meters from the border. As a result of checks, he presented himself as a villager of Pelenei village, aged 32. The young man admitted that he fished in the border waters, managing to catch, with 100 meters of nets, 2 kg of fish. Because he did not have the necessary authorization and permit of stay in the border area, the border policemen have applied a fine of 10 c.u., then they referred him to the Fisheries Service, in order to take legal measures.
