Border Police advances preparations for alignment with Schengen standards and the Entry/Exit System

28 May 2026

Strengthening integrated border management helps ensure a higher level of security for citizens. Aligning with European Union standards in this area remains one of the key priorities of the General Inspectorate of the Border Police.

From 25 to 29 May 2026, the GIBP is hosting a joint expert mission focused on assessing border control infrastructure and equipment in accordance with Schengen standards, as well as supporting preparations for the future implementation of the Entry/Exit System (EES), as part of the EU-funded project ”EU4Borders Security – Moldova”.

The mission included visits to Chișinău International Airport and the Costești–Stânca Border Crossing Point, where experts assessed the operational infrastructure and equipment used for border control procedures.

Th experts delivered a presentation on the implementation of the EES at EU external borders and shared practical experience and recommendations with GIBP officers.
