Following a joint action, organized for preventing and combating illegal migration, at the Moldovan-Romanian border were caught and detained three Georgians. One of them was detained by Moldovan Border Police officers in close proximity to the River Prut.
On this night, at around 2.00, the inspectors of Border Police Sector Brinza taking into consideration the information received from the local population, apprehended at about 400 meters from the border, a man who intended illegally to cross the border. Because of the lack of any identity acts that would have allowed the identification at the spot, he was taken to the headquarters of the sector to establish his identity and to carry out some additional checks.
As a result of actions initiated was determined that the detained person is a citizen of Georgia aged 36. From the very beginning, the man admitted that he intended to reach illegally one of the EU countries. He also said he did not have the necessary documents for traveling abroad because they had been stolen, once he arrived in Moldova.
The Border Police officers have prepared the relevant documents prior to criminal investigation under the accusation of illegal attempt of the border crossing, the investigations being still continued, and upon completion, shall be undertaken the measures in this regard.
However, in the same period of time, the colleges from Romania have detained two Georgian citizens who passed the border passed by swimming.
